Description

Sunspots (20230509) - with light bridges (1v2)

After I was able to observe and photograph these Sunspot groups:
  • May 3rd, 2023 – Sunspots (20230503) - a whole swarm appears
  • May 4th, 2023 – Sunspots (20230504) - the 'swarm' spreads both hemispheres
  • May 5th, 2023 – Sunspots (20230505) - the 'swarm' 3rd day in a row

... there was no opportunity for further observations here in the northern part of the Alps due to continued massive clouds with rain showers and occasional thunderstorms.

It wasn't until the morning of May 9th, 2023 that there were a few blue gaps, so I was able to photograph these detailed regions again.

I was particularly pleased to discover a very slender and almost ring-shaped light bridge in the middle of the largest spot in this image, active region AR 3297. Another light bridge is in the underlying uniformly round spot of AR 3294.
